Fundraising Strategy

AiPi understands the challenges facing technology companies raising funds at either the seed level, or Series A, B, or C.  We therefore offer an array of services tailored to enhance fundraising efforts and to thereby successfully initiate revenue and scale our client’s business operations.

Many entrepreneurs who have founded and/or are operating pre-revenue companies have relevant academic, government, or scientific experience, but they and their early stage companies are in need of capital to facilitate their entry into the market or to facilitate market growth.  AiPi can help to determine fundable and credible milestones that are needed to create opportunities for raising funds and for growth, such as by creating and developing meaningful and credible intellectual property, product development, and R&D strategies as well as overall business plans.  Our unique services are incorporated into and inform the overall fundraising and growth strategies.

Typically, start-up companies do not have the monies that are needed, and struggle with raising the funds necessary to scale their companies to begin generating revenue.  For pre-revenue companies, it is important to provide a credible, realistic plan with a reasonable capitalization table/dilution that can be funded using our strategic advice.  It is also important to build value during this process rather than simply chasing revenue.  AiPi will assist in this process.  The key consideration in the design of this plan is to make use of milestones, and to examine and leverage company assets to enable the necessary capital raise.  AiPi can also make introductions to organizations and individuals who may provide sources of capital for our client companies.

Concurrently with fundraising, AiPi helps companies optimize their success with enhancements in intellectual property by providing an IP analytic and protection strategy — with best-in-class patent analysis tools, we scan the literature and provide solutions which enables the capability to work with data and determine strategic areas to protect.  AiPi leverages IP knowledge, which is essential to start-up enterprises for freedom to operate analyses, as well as understanding the inventive ‘ecosystem’ of companies for partnership, merger, and potential acquisition.  AiPi provides strategies that will also enable creation of a portfolio of patents that can be used to negotiate with companies that may be operating in similar or related areas.  IP is also important in fund-raising – providing a higher valuation and de-risking an investment by demonstrating knowledge of the field and augmenting the product/service development roadmap.

Execution of fundraising strategy creation is vital to success.

How it Works

AiPi first performs an initial industry investigation that will be necessary to create a business plan, supplementing the existing business plan with intellectual property, product development, and business development strategies.  AiPi will then articulate the new business plan based on the initial investigation, focusing especially on differentiators, operations scaling, identified partners, and revenue generation.  The business plan will also include an exit strategy, such as by identifying potential acquiring entities.

AiPi will then create a fundraising strategy that includes the business plan, and articulates the requested funding amount, plan for scaling based on the received funds, investment terms, and proposed corporate structure.  In particular, AiPi will assist in creating pitch decks and other documents necessary for raising funds required to scale the business operations by reviewing and editing existing company materials and suggesting new materials as needed.

AiPi will also make introductions and provide other support and guidance necessary for raising the funds.  Importantly, the targeted investors will be entities that not only provide funds sufficient for scaling, but will also have the ability to otherwise enhance the business operations, such as by delivering engineering, prototyping, manufacturing, distribution, and business development services.
